well it depends on what gun you want like a rifle you have to be 18 or older and that training is for hunters and for a handgun you have to be 21 i think is required to have training.

most already have training before 18. i been hunting since I was 12 years old and I had training before that. i think they give you training before you buy the gun and before you can even get a gun they check your background and if your record is clean you can get that gun you want

its the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution it says that "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." so if the United states is attacked a militia is needed just in case.
